SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Orange senior goalkeeper Phil Boerger has been integral to the success of the Premier Development League's (PDL) Des Moines Menace soccer team this summer. The Menace's primary keeper, Boerger has fueled the team's 7-3 start, posting a 5-2 record with two shutouts.
Currently second in the Heartland Division, the Menace will play two games against WSA Winnipeg this weekend before facing Thunder Bay next week.
In seven games for the Menace, Boerger has 24 saves and a 1.60 goals-against average.
Boerger transferred to Syracuse in January for his senior season after starring for three years at the University of Evansville. He was the starting goalie for two seasons with the Purple Aces and earned All-Missouri Valley Conference honors in 2009.
