Trio Named to All-Tournament Team

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Three members of the Syracuse women's soccer team have been named to the Embassy Suites Kick Off Classic All-Tournament Team. Junior Tina Romagnuolo and sophomores Kayla Afonso and Brittany Kinmond were among the 12 players honored for their performances in the tournament this past weekend hosted by Florida Gulf Coast.
Kinmond recorded her first career goal on a penalty kick in the 59th minute to give the Orange a 1-0 victory against the host Eagles. Kinmond earned the penalty kick for SU after being tackled in the box. Romagnuolo anchored the Orange's midfield and recorded seven shots. It was Romagnuolo's pass to Kinmond in the box that led to the penalty kick in Syracuse's win against Florida Gulf Coast. Afonso and the Orange defense allowed just three shots on goal to Robert Morris in the season opener. Against Florida Gulf Coast, Syracuse shutout the Colonials, successfully defending against nine corner kicks.
The Orange (1-1) goes for its second consecutive win on Sunday, Aug. 28 when it plays Colgate in Hamilton, N.Y.
