
Hillsman, Netherlands Win Opener

OREDEA, Romania – Syracuse University head women's basketball coach Quentin Hillsman helped guide the Netherlands to a 81-69 victory versus the Czech Republic in their first game at the U18 European Women Championships. Hillsman is serving as an assistant coach on the Netherlands U18 National Team.
Loyce Bettonvil scored nine of her 20 points in the fourth quarter, including two huge 3-point shots to secure the win. The last of her two 3-pointers gave the Netherlands a 72-67 lead that proved to be enough to seal the game.
Kourtney Treffers scored 13 points and added seven rebounds in only 16 minutes spent on the court with a staggering 83.3 field goal percentage.
The Netherlands outrebounded the Czech Republic, 46-37, and shot 51.2 percent (21-41) from the field.
Monika Satoranska carried the Czech team with 17 points, four rebounds and four assists and Tereza Vyoralova added 15 points.
Neither of the teams managed to build a lead bigger than nine points during the first three quarters.
Hillsman and the Netherlands are back in action against the Slovak Republic on Sunday, August 8.
