SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Junior defender Amanda Hamilton of the SU women's soccer team and cornerback Kevyn Scott of the Orange football team are the Syracuse University Scholar-Athletes of the Week for Sept. 5, 2011.
Hamilton has started all four matches for the Orange this season. The Columbia, Conn., native earned Academic All-District 1 Second Team honors as a sophomore.
A marketing management major, Hamilton is a two-time BIG EAST All-Academic Team selection and a four-time member of the Syracuse University Athletic Director's Honor Roll.
Scott, a captain of the football team, recorded the fourth interception of his career and the first for the Orange in 2011 against Wake Forest.
Scott is currently pursuing a master's degree in information management after earning his undergraduate degree in the same field last spring. A three-time member of the BIG EAST All-Academic Team, Scott has appeared on the SU Athletic Director's Honor Roll six times.
A native of Tamarac, Fla., Scott was a 2008-09 Arthur Ashe Sports Scholars First Team selection. He also attended the 2009 University Presidential Inaugural Conference (UPIC) in Washington, D.C., as a member of the National Honors Society.
Hamilton and the SU women's soccer team participate in the Fairfield University Invitational this coming weekend, while Scott and the Syracuse football team host Rhode Island on Saturday, September 10 in the Carrier Dome (4:30 p.m., TWCS/SNY, BIG EAST Network). Individual and season tickets are available online and at the Carrier Dome Box Office (1-888-DOMETIX).
