Mottershead Takes Part in Canadian National Team Camp

FULLERTON, Calif. – Junior Alyscha Mottershead is spending part of her winter break training with the Canadian Women's Soccer national team. Mottershead is one of 23 players at the week-long camp being held in Fullerton, Calif., which will determine Canada's roster for the 2012 CONCACAF Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournament later this month in Vancouver.
Mottershead, a midfielder, played in every game for Syracuse in 2011 and recorded two assists. She also helped the Orange defense post seven shutouts. Syracuse won seven games this season and advanced to the BIG EAST Tournament for the first time since 2005.
Canada will participate in the 2012 CONCACAF Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournament January 19-29. The eight-team, 15-match tournament will be played in Vancouver. The top two teams from the competition will qualify for the 2012 Olympics in London.
