Field Hockey Honored At Basketball Game

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse field hockey team was honored for its outstanding 2011 campaign, which included winning the BIG EAST Championship, at halftime of Saturday's men's basketball game vs. West Virginia in front of over 28,000 at the Carrier Dome.
The Orange, under head coach Ange Bradley and assistant coaches Steve Simpson and Natalie Barrett, finished the season with a 19-4 record, and captured the program's second consecutive BIG EAST Tournament Championship. SU was ranked third in the final NFHCA Coaches Poll, fifth in the final NCAA Field Hockey RPI, and had three student-athletes (Liz McInerney, Heather Susek and Kelsey Millman) earn All-America status.
SU made its fourth-straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament and seventh in program history, advancing to the round of eight.
Eight members of the team were named Longstreth/NFHCA All-Region selections. Laura Hahnefeldt, McInerney, Millman and Susek were all named First-Team, while Leonie Geyer, Amy Kee, Martina Loncarica and Nicole Nelson earned Second-Team status.
Susek was named the 2011 BIG EAST Co-Offensive Player of the Year. Susek, along with McInerney and Millman were named to the All-BIG EAST First Team while senior Nelson was named an All-BIG EAST Second Team selection.
In her fifth season at the helm of the Orange in 2011, Bradley coached in her 100th game with SU against Georgetown midway through the season. Bradley has led the Orange to an 87-22 record during her tenure.
