Â
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Syracuse ice hockey team completed its sweep of Penn State this afternoon, recording a 6-0 shutout at the Greenberg Ice Pavilion. It is the first time in program history that the Orange (2-2-0, 2-0-0 CHA) has shutout its opponent in both games of a weekend series. In her first start of the season, junior goaltender Kallie Billadeau notched 20 saves. It was the third shutout of her career and first this season.
Â
"It was another solid defensive performance by our team today when we shut down Penn State's offense for the second consecutive game," said head coach Paul Flanagan. "They played us very tight until part way through the second period. Once we scored the second goal, Penn State seemed to get back on their heels a bit but we took over scoring four goals in the third period. It was a nice shutout for Billadeau and it was great to see the contributions of the freshmen class."

Â
Just less than three minutes later, senior forward Holly Carrie-Mattimoe scored a power-play tally on assists from defensemen junior Caitlin Roach and freshman Nicole Renault. The assist was the first point of Renault's career.
Â
