Bono Named BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – After posting his seventh shutout of the 2012 campaign Saturday at USF, freshman Alex Bono was named BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week by the conference on Monday, Oct. 15. It is Bono's second league honor, as the Baldwinsville, N.Y. native earned the same accolade on Sept. 10.

Bono recorded four saves in SU's 1-0 victory against the Bulls to lead the Orange to its first road conference win since 2009. He is tied for first in the BIG EAST in shutouts. He has a 9-4-0 record this season with a goals-against average of 0.71 in nearly 1,139 minutes of action.

Bono and the Orange (10-4-0, 3-2-0) conclude a two-game road swing at Villanova on Wednesday, Oct. 17. Match time is set for 3 p.m. at the Villanova Soccer Complex.
