Vale Earns Second College Soccer News Team of the Week Honor

SYRACUSE, N.Y.  – Freshman midfielder Jordan Vale was named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week for the second time on Monday, Nov. 26. Vale was rewarded after scoring SU's lone goal against No. 3 seed Georgetown in yesterday's third-round NCAA Tournament match.

Vale's header in the 29th minute gave the Orange a one-goal lead that stood until the Hoyas equalized in the 85th minute. It was Vale's ninth goal of the season.

Vale started every match for the Orange this season, and finished the 2012 campaign as the squad's leading scorer. His nine goals are the most for an SU freshman since Kirk Johnson netted nine in 2000, and Vale's 21 points match are the most for a first-year Orange player since 2001 (Jarett Park, 24).

The third round was the farthest Syracuse had ever advanced in the NCAA Championship. SU captured its first NCAA Tournament by beating Cornell and VCU earlier this month. In addition, the Orange recorded its most wins (14) since the 1986 campaign when it won 16 games.
