Match Notes
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The No. 39 Syracuse University Tennis team (8-4, 3-1) looks to carry its momentum from its biggest win in program history into weekend conference matches at West Virginia and at Pittsburgh.
The Orange defeated its third ranked opponent of the season last Sunday when SU edged No. 25 Yale in a 4-3 decision. With the match knotted at 3-3, it came down to a third set tie break on court six, and Aleah Marrow was able to deliver the victory for Syracuse.
Syracuse achieved its highest ranking in program history when the newest ITA Top 75 poll was released on Tuesday. Syracuse checked in at No. 39.
Freshman Amanda Rodgers looks to build upon her team best 11-1 singles mark. Rodgers has not lost since the team's second match of the season at TCU. Senior captain Emily Harman is right behind Rodgers with a 10-2 singles mark, while fellow senior captain Alessondra Parra picked up two wins last weekend to move her singles mark to 8-4. Parra needs just two combined victories this weekend to become the 28th player in SU tennis history to join the century club.
Saturday's match with the Mountaineers is scheduled to start at 3:00 p.m. First serve on Sunday against the Panthers is set for 10:00 a.m.
