Orange Earns Highest Ranking in Program History

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse climbed one spot to No. 2 in this week's Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) poll released on Tuesday, March 20. It marks the Orange's highest regular-season ranking in program history. Syracuse is also ranked second in the deBeer's media poll.
The Orange has won three consecutive games, two against opponents ranked in the top five in the nation. It marks the first time Syracuse has registered two victories against top-five ranked teams since the program began in 1998. Last week SU defeated No. 18/-- Towson, 18-7, in the Carrier Dome.
Syracuse was ranked No. 3 in the IWLCA poll the past two weeks, which equaled its previous highest ranking. The Orange held the No. 3 spot in the coaches' poll for two consecutive weeks in 2009. SU was ranked No. 2 in the preseason poll that season.
The Orange (4-2) opens BIG EAST play this weekend at Connecticut on Saturday, March 24. Opening draw is set for 1 p.m.
