SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse women's rowing team hosts its first of two-straight home regattas on Saturday when Boston University, Cornell and Rutgers come to the James A. Ten Eyck Boathouse for the Kittell Cayuga Combo.
Head Coach Justin Moore's Orange, receiving votes in the March 28 CRCA/USRowing Coaches Poll, started the spring season with strong showing against six other crews at Clemson on March 17, highlighted by a third-place finish in the varsity eight and a second-place finish in the varsity four. Many SU boats showed substantial gains against the same teams from a season ago. The races followed a week of training in South Carolina.
Cornell enters the weekend ranked No. 16, while BU, like the Orange, is receiving votes.
The Scarlet Knights are coming off a second-place finish in the varsity eight at the Murphy Cup Regatta and the Terriers are coming off a third place finish at the Beanpot Regatta last weekend, while the Big Red is opening its season on Saturday.
Racing at the Onondaga Lake Outlet at Longbranch Park begins at 8:30 a.m. and the last race of the day is slated for 11:45 a.m. Events will include first, second and third varsity eights, and varsity fours.
After Saturday, the Orange will remain home to host RV Northeastern and RV Penn on April 7. The Charles River Challenge in Boston on April 14 follows, and the BIG EAST Double Dual on April 28 will precede the BIG EAST Championship on May 13 in Mercer, N.J.
