SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Incoming Syracuse men's soccer goalie Alex Bono has been named one of the top 10 freshmen to watch this season by TopDrawerSoccer.com. Bono was an All-Central New York (CNY) performer at C.W. Baker High School and recently completed a week of training with Major League Soccer's (MLS) New England Revolution.

Bono is the only netminder on the list, which also includes field players from powerhouses Akron (Dillon Serna), North Carolina (Daniel Garcia), and Maryland (Michael Ambrose) among others.

The sixth-rated goalie prospect in this year's class according to ESPN Rise, Bono won four Section III titles at Baker and finished his career with a 0.65 goals-against average. In addition, he was the starting goalie for Empire United of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy League in 2012. Bono helped the United to a 19-6-4 overall record and a playoff berth.

Bono and the Orange begin preseason training in August. The team opens the 2012 season at home Friday, Aug. 24 at 7 p.m. versus Albany.
