SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The past and future of the Syracuse University men's soccer program will be on display this weekend at Gillette Stadium.
Former Orange goalie Jeremy Vuolo and the New York Red Bulls Reserves face the New England Revolution Reserves Sunday, July 8 at 9:30 p.m. The Revolution Reserves feature incoming Syracuse players Alex Bono and Stefanos Stamoulacatos who were called up to the team earlier this week.
Vuolo, who was signed by New York prior to the MLS season, is one of two goalkeepers on the Red Bulls' roster. He has played in all four reserve games for New York this season.
Bono and Stamoulacatos will join the Orange as freshmen this fall. Last month, they teamed up to lead the Empire United club team to the U.S. Development Academy U-17/18 playoffs.
In high school, Bono posted a career 0.65 goals-against average as a goalie for C.W. Baker. He led the Bees to four Section III titles and was named to the 2011 All-Central New York (CNY) Team by The Post-Standard.
Stamoulacatos attended West Genesee High School. He is a member of the United States U-18 National Team, and like Bono, was a 2011 All-CNY selection. Stamoulacatos recorded 14 goals and eight assists for the Wildcats as a senior.
