SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Led by senior Ted Cribley, the Blue team won the second annual Orange and Blue Game, 5-2, on Friday, Aug. 10 at Hookway Fields. Cribley factored in four of Blue's five goals, scoring once and contributing three assists for the winning side.
Forwards Louis Clark (one goal, one assist) and Grant Chong (one goal, one assist) were often on the receiving end of Cribley's passes, and each player recorded three points in the victory.
Friday's intra-squad scrimmage featured three 20-minute periods. Teams were determined by points earned during fitness testing and training sessions, as well as by position.
Chong got the Blue side on the board midway through the first period when he finished a Cribley cross. A few minutes later, Chong and Cribley assisted on Clark's goal to extend the Blue advantage to 2-0 after the opening period.
Senior midfielder Mark Brode added to the lead, scoring early in the second period.
Down 3-0, the Orange team recorded its first goal late in the second when junior Tony Asante converted a 1-on-1 chance, but Cribley opened the third-period scoring with a goal to maintain a three-goal Blue advantage.
Each team scored once more during the remainder of the match. Forward Lars Muller tallied for Orange, while rookie Ben Ramin notched Blue's fifth goal.
With only three goalies on the roster, each keeper played two periods. Blue goalie Andrew Coughlin made two saves, while Orange goalie Alex Bono had one. Matt Stith played one period for Orange and one period for Blue and finished with two stops.
