SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Freshman goalie Alex Bono was named the BIG EAST Men's Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week, while junior Tony Asante was named to the conference's honor roll on Monday, Sept. 10. It is the first weekly honor for both newcomers.

Bono earned two shutouts versus NJIT and St. Bonaventure to help the Orange win the Mayor's Cup XXXVI championship. In addition, he was part of a combined team shutout versus Colgate. Bono recorded a career-high five saves against the Bonnies on Sunday. He leads the BIG EAST in goals-against average (0.34) and save percentage (.909).

The BIG EAST leader in points per game (2.0) and goals (five), Asante has at least one goal in each of SU's last four games. He was credited with eight points (three goals, two assists) in SU's three wins last week.

Bono, Asante and the Orange return to the pitch this weekend. SU faces UNLV on Friday, Sept. 14 and Cal State Fullerton on Sunday, Sept. 16 at the UNLV Nike Invitational in Las Vegas.
