SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Orange men's soccer team (6-2-0, 0-0-0 BIG EAST) hosts Seton Hall (4-4-0, 0-0-0 BIG EAST) on Saturday, Sept. 22 at the SU Soccer Stadium. The match is the conference opener for both teams. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

SU IN BIG EAST OPENERS
The Orange is 10-13-4 all-time in BIG EAST openers since the start of regular-season league play in 1985. This is the third year in a row that SU will open BIG EAST play at home.
SCOUTING SETON HALL
Seton Hall is riding a two-game winning streak, registering victories versus Monmouth (NJ) (1-0) and Delaware (2-1) in the past week.
Max Garcia leads the offense with 11 points on five goals and one assist. Garcia is tied for second in the BIG EAST in goals, and he is tied for fourth in the conference in points. Michael Kuzan and Kevin Bonder have shared the Pirates' goalkeeping duties. Kuzan has posted 27 saves in five games, while Bonder has 12 saves in three games.
Coach Gerson Echerverry is in his first season at the helm of the Pirates. As a player at Seton Hall from 1990-93, he ranks fourth in program history with 114 points, third with 32 assists, and sixth with 41 goals.
THE SETON HALL SERIES
Seton Hall leads the overall series, 15-4-3. The Orange and Pirates last met in 2009, with Seton Hall notching a 3-1 victory. The most recent Syracuse win in the series came in 2007 (2-1) at the Mayor's Cup in Oneonta, N.Y.
OFFENSIVE DOMINANCE
Syracuse is one of the most potent offensive team in the country so far this season. Nationally, the Orange ranks second in total goals (21), fifth in total points (59) and 11th in scoring offense (2.63 goals per game). The Orange's 21 goals through eight games are one more than it scored in 16 matches last season.
Tony Asante is 14th nationally in points (12), and 17th in the NCAA in goals scored (5). Ted Cribley ranks eighth in the country with four assists.
RECAPPING THE UNLV NIKE INVITATIONAL
The Orange traveled to Las Vegas last weekend and defeated UNLV (1-0) before falling to Cal State Fullerton (3-1). Stefanos Stamoulacatos scored the match's only goal against the Rebels to lead SU to its first win in the Pacific time zone in school history. Alex Bono recorded his fifth shoutout of the season. Cribley scored SU's lone goal against Cal State Fullerton.

Syracuse concludes non-conference play Massachusetts on Tuesday, Sept. 25 with a road match against Massachusetts. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. at Rudd Field.
