SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Jukka Masalin has been recognized by CollegeSoccerNews.com as one of the top assistant men's soccer coaches for 2012. The website recently announced its list of the top 15 assistant coaches in Division I and included Masalin along with top aides from such perennial powers as Indiana, Connecticut and Notre Dame.

Masalin accompanied head coach Ian McIntyre to Syracuse in 2010 after spending two seasons as McIntyre's top lieutenant at Hartwick. Masalin contributes to all facets of the program, including recruiting, opponent scouting, game preparation and player development.

In 2012, Masalin and the Orange coaches were tabbed the BIG EAST Coaching Staff of the Year for turning around a team that went 3-12-1 in 2011. Syracuse finished 2012 with a 14-6-1 record and advanced to the third round of the NCAA Tournament before being eliminated on penalty kicks by eventual national runner-up Georgetown.
