SU Travels to Providence College This Weekend

SYRACUSE, N.Y.—The Orange is set to take on Providence College twice this weekend at Schneider Arena in Providence, R.I. Syracuse looks to improve on its 1-3-0 record against its fourth opponent of the year. SU plays on Friday night at 7 p.m. and Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m.

SCOUTING PROVIDENCE
• Providence is 2-2 on the season, splitting with both Union and No. 10 Mercyhurst.
• The Friars lose their top point scorer from last season, Nicole Anderson, who tallied 35 points in 2012-13 off 19 goals and 16 assists, but they return their second and third best point-getters from last year.
• Haley Frade, who earned 31 points last year and Molly Illikainen, who tallied 30 are both back on the ice for PC this year. Illikainen has two points off one goal and one assist and Frade has one goal so far in 2013-14.
• Corinne Buie has emerged as the leader of the Friars with five points on the season (2 goals, 3 assists).
• Three goaltenders have all seen ice time for Providence this year. Sarah Bryant (2-1-0) has played the most minutes, recording 70 saves (.909 save percent) and a 2.96 goals against average. In 75 minutes, Nina Riley had six goals scored against her and is responsible for one loss.

SYRACUSE STRUGGLES WITH #3 CLARKSON
• The Orange comes off a home-and-home weekend against No. 3 Clarkson, losing both games to the Golden Knights.
• Syracuse hung in with Clarkson on Friday night's game at home in Tennity Ice Pavilion. Although they lost 2-1, goaltender Kallie Billadeau made 39 saves, allowing just two scores in 41 attempts on goal.
• Nicole Renault scored the lone SU goal of the weekend on a two-man advantage, her first of the season. Credit the assists to Caitlin Roach and Melissa Piacentini.
• SU was unable to net one at Cheel Arena on Saturday night and was shut out by the Golden Knights, 4-0. Billadeau had another 30+ saves game, this time making 36 stops on 40 tries on net. Two of Clarkson's goals came on the power play and one was on an empty net.
• Billadeau recorded a .934 save percentage and a 2.55 GAA against Clarkson.

STARTING WITH A WIN
• Syracuse started the season with a 4-1 win over #10 Northeastern in the season opener on Friday, Oct. 4, marking its first victory in SU's series with the Huskies.
• The Orange has not bested a ranked opponent since the second game of the 2010-11 season when SU took down #8 New Hampshire, 4-2 (10/8/10).
• This win was just the third time in program history that Syracuse has beaten someone on the national list and was by the largest margin of victory.
• SU defeated #8 Cornell, 2-1 on Jan. 5, 2010 in its first victory over a ranked foe.
• The win over Northeastern also marks just the second time the Orange has had a win in its opening game, both times away from its home ice.

• The Orange split on its opening weekend, losing to UNH, 3-2, despite a 2-0 lead in the second period.
• Jessica Sibley and Brittney Krebs each scored a goal while Kallie Billadeau totaled 33 saves against the Wildcats.
• Syracuse drops to 2-4-0 all time with the Wildcats in its second straight loss in the series.

PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT
• The Orange started its season with an exhibition game against the University of Guelph on Friday, Sept. 27. SU came away with a 3-1 victory to bolster team confidence going into the first regular season game at No. 10 Northeastern.
• Freshman Elizabeth Scala scored the game-winning goal and Sadie St. Germain and Nicole Ferrara each contributed a goal in the win.
• Kallie Billadeau, Jenesica Drinkwater and Julie Bengis split equal minutes in net for the Orange.

SIBLEY ON FIRE
• Freshman forward Jessica Sibley has scored a goal in each of the Orange's first two contests.
• Both of her goals came on the power play.
• She scored the first goal of the game against New Hampshire early in the first period and scored the third SU goal against Northeastern to pad Syracuse's lead.

SPECIAL TEAMS SUCCESS
• Syracuse ranks sixth nationally in power play conversion percentage. Jessica Sibley is tied for second in the nation in power play goals with two on the season.
• The Orange has scored four of its seven goals on the power play, two against Northeastern.
• Syracuse is 4-22 (.182) on power plays this season and has netted four of 16 man-up shots (.250).
• SU is .789 on the penalty kill, allowing four power play goals in 19 attempts, two from UNH and two from Clarkson.
• Senior goaltender Kallie Billadeau has saved 34 of 38 man-up shots taken by SU opponents so far this season (.895).
