CENTERVILLE, Mass. -- Rookie forward Emil Ekblom continued to receive praise for his record-setting performance against NC State last Friday. Hours after being named the Disney Soccer/NSCAA Division I Men's Player of the Week, and to the national teams of the week selected by TopDrawerSoccer.com and College Soccer News, Ekblom was tabbed the ECAC co-Offensive Player of the Week Tuesday night. He shared the award with Hofstra's Maid Memic.
Ekblom set an SU Soccer Stadium record with seven points against the Wolfpack. He scored three goals to record SU's first hat trick since 2008 and added an assist to help the Orange to its most goals in a conference match since netting five against former BIG EAST rival Providence on Sept. 22, 2001.
Memic tallied two goals and one assist in a 2-0 week for Hofstra as the Pride defeated Rutgers (3-0) and UNC-Wilmington (2-0).
Ekblom continued his torrid scoring pace Tuesday afternoon, notching both Orange goals in a 3-2 loss to Boston College. Ekblom has five goals and 11 total points in the last two games. He leads the ACC with eight goals this season.
