SYRACUSE, N.Y. - No. 2 Syracuse field hockey (16-3) hosts the first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament this weekend where it will meet No. 20 Michigan State (13-9) in the first round on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at J.S. Coyne Stadium. That game will be followed by No. 4 Connecticut (17-4) vs. No. 11 Boston College (12-7) at 2 p.m. The winner will meet on Sunday for a berth in the Final Four on Nov. 22-24 in Norfolk, Va.
• Tickets to the games at $6 for adults and $3 for students with institutional ID or individuals 18 years and under. Syracuse is offering a special ticket promotion where anyone with a field hockey ticket can redeem it at the Carrier Dome for a free ticket to Monday's men's basketball game vs. St. Francis (NY) at 7:30 p.m.

SU IN THE NCAA TOURNAMENT
• The Orange is making its sxith-straight NCAA appearance and ninth overall. It enters the 2013 tourney with a 9-8 all-time record.
• Syracuse has also made NCAA appearances in 1993, 1995, 2001, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012. It has advanced to the quarterfinals in four straight seasons and six times overall, while making two Final Four appearances, in 2008 and 2012.
• SU made its second-ever Final Four appearance last year, beating No. 16 Massachusetts, who represented the Orange's lone regular season loss, in the opening round, 4-2, and beating the host and third-ranked Penn State in the second round, 5-2, to make it to Norfolk, where it lost in the national semifinals to No. 1 North Carolina, 6-1.
• Since the NCAA Tournament went to its current two rounds at one site format, this is the second time the Orange has hosted. The first was in 2008 when it beat No. 17 UMass, 3-2, and No. 9 Princeton, 3-2, to make its first Final Four appearance.
• The first NCAA game Syracuse hosted was a 3-0 win vs. Penn in the 1993 first round before playing at Penn State in the second round.
• The current Orange senior class is 4-3 with three second round appearances, and one Final Four.
• Syracuse is 7-5 in NCAA Tournament games under Ange Bradley.
ORANGE-HOT AT HOME
• The Orange has been dominating at J.S. Coyne Stadium since seventh-year head coach Ange Bradley took the reins in 2007 as it currently rides a 45-game home winning streak dating back to 2009.
• SU has outscored the opposition, 185-36, or an average score of 4.2-0.8, during the winning streak.
• This year's senior class is a perfect 36-0 on its home field.
• In home games under Bradley (since 2007), Syracuse is 61-6 (.910) overall. That breaks down to 42-4 (.913) in non-conference games and 19-2 (.905) in conference games.
• The Orange is 9-0 at home this season, outscoring its opponents, 30-7. Last season, SU went 8-0 at home and outscored its opponents, 34-7. In 2011, Syracuse went 13-0 at home and outscored the opposition, 65-9.Â
• SU's last home loss was on Sept. 6, 2009 vs. No. 7 Princeton, 3-2, in overtime.
ORANGE RANKED NO. 2
• For the third week in a row, Syracuse is ranked No. 2 in the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I Coaches Poll, which also the final poll of the season, after moving up from No. 3 three weeks ago. It matches its highest rank of the season.
• This is the highest Syracuse has ever been ranked in the final poll of the season, beating No. 3 in 2011.
• The Orange started the season ranked No. 5 in the preseason poll, before slipping to a season-low No. 6 on Sept. 10.
TOP 10 STREAK REACHES 64 WEEKS
• The Orange has been ranked in the top 10 of the NFHCA poll for 64-straight weeks, dating back to Aug. 28, 2008.Â
• The Orange was ranked No. 1 for three weeks in 2012 after spending three weeks at No. 2, its highest ranking since reaching No. 1 for the first time in program history in 2008.
VS. RANKED OPPONENTS
• Syracuse is 8-3 against ranked opponents this season, most recently beating No. 11 Boston College in the ACC quarterfinals, 3-1, before losing to No. 3 North Carolina in the semifinals, 1-0. The other wins came against No. 7 Massachusetts, 2-1, on Sept. 13, No. 6 Princeton, 4-0, on Sept. 22, No. 6 Stanford, 3-1, on Sept. 28, No. 4 Virginia, 4-1, on Oct. 5, No. 7 Duke, 2-1, in double-OT on Oct. 11, No. 16 Wake Forest, 4-1, on Oct. 26, and No. 3 North Carolina, 1-0, on Nov. 2 at home.
• Syracuse is 51-56 against ranked teams since 2007, including an impressive 25-9 in the last three seasons. SU was 10-2 in 2012 and was 7-4 in 2011.
• The only losses to ranked teams in 2012 were to No. 5 UConn, 4-3, in the BIG EAST Championship and to No. 1 North Carolina in the national semifinals. This season's losses were at No. 17 Boston College, 6-3, and at No. 1 Maryland, 2-1, in overtime on Oct. 18.
• The Orange is 24-35 against top 10 teams since 2007, including a 6-2 mark this year.
ACC TOURNEY WRAP-UP
• After clinching the No. 2 seed with a 4-2 conference record, the Orange went to its first ever ACC Tournament in Newton, Mass. where it defeated seventh-seeded Boston College in the first round, 3-1, before falling to third-seeded North Carolina in the semifinals, 1-0.
• First-half goals by Leonie Geyer, Emma Russell and Lauren Brooks propelled the Orange to its opening round win over the tournament hosts. SU outshot BC, 18-8, including a 14-4 edge in the first half.
• In a hard-fought rematch of SU's 1-0 win on the final day of the regular season, it was UNC that won by that same score in the semifinals. Emily Wold scored the game's only goal in the 25th minute. SU appeared to tie the game with 3:10 remaining, but a video review by the officials, in the first year it has been used, overturned the call.
HELLO ACC!
• Syracuse played its inaugural season in the Atlantic Coast Conference in 2013, finishing second with a record of 4-2. The Orange brought the nation's premier field hockey conference's total of programs to seven.
• All seven ACC teams are currently ranked in the NFHCA Top 20, including four of the top seven (No. 1 Maryland, No. 2 Syracuse, No. 3 North Carolina, No. 5 Duke and No. 7 Virginia). Boston College is 11th and Wake Forest is 13th.
• ACC teams have been dominant in non-conference games this season, amassing a 77-8 mark for a winning percentage of .906.
• ACC teams have won 10 out of the last 11 national championships and had at least one team in the title game for each of the last 14 years.
FOUR EARN ALL-ACC HONORS
• In its inaugural ACC season, four Syracuse players were named to the All-ACC teams. Leonie Geyer was named to the first time, while Laura Hahnefeldt, Alyssa Manley and Emma Russell were named to the second team.
• It is the third time the senior Geyer has been named All-Conference first team. She was a BIG EAST selection in 2010 and the conference's only unanimous pick in 2012.
• It is also Hahnefeldt's third All-Conference honor. She was All-BIG EAST first team in 2010 and 2012. She and Geyer are the ninth and 10th three-time honorees in program history.
• It is the first conference honor for both Manley and Russell.Â
SERIES VS. MICHIGAN STATE
• Syracuse is 6-2 all-time against Michigan State. The Orange won at East Lansing earlier this season, 4-0, on Sept. 6. Emma Russell, Leonie Geyer, Lauren Brooks and Karlee Farr scored goals. Jess Jecko had to make one save for the shutout as SU had a 13-3 shot advantage.
SERIES VS. BOSTON COLLEGE
• Syracuse is 19-7 all-time against the Eagles, but BC snapped a four-game Orange winning streak in the series on Sept. 20 by defeating SU, 6-3, in Newton despite a 19-6 SU shot advantage. The Orange got revenge in the first round of the ACC Tournament on Nov. 7, winning 3-1. Lauren Brooks, Leonie Geyer and Emma Russell scored goals for the Orange.
SERIES VS. CONNECTICUT
• Syracuse is 9-27-1 all-time against long-time former BIG EAST rival Connecticut, but the Orange has had the upper hand in recent years, winning six of the last nine match-ups, including last year's regular season finale for the BIG EAST regular season title, 3-2, at Coyne Stadium. Liz McInerney, Kelsey Millman and Gillian Pinder scored the Orange goals.Â
• UConn came back to beat the Orange in the BIG EAST Championship final, 4-3, on Nov. 4, 2012. Chloe Hunnable scored the winner with 16 seconds left. Laura Hahnefeldt led SU with two first-half goals.
