
Redshirt junior Lindsay McCabe seventh in SU history with 409 career total blocks
McCabe Earns Academic All-District Nod

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Redshirt junior middle blocker Lindsay McCabe (Georgetown, Ontario) has been selected to the 2013-14 Capital One Academic All-District Volleyball Team, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday, Nov. 7. McCabe is one of 10 listed on the District I squad.
One of the top blockers in the Atlantic Coast Conference, McCabe ranks second in the league and 28th nationally with 1.31 blocks per set. McCabe is averaging 1.52 blocks per set in ACC-only play which leads all individuals. Earlier this season, McCabe jumped into the top 10 in SU history in career total blocks and block assists. She currently sits seventh all-time with 409 blocks and sixth in program history with 348 block assists.
McCabe has been included on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll and the Dean's List in all of her semesters at SU. The two-time BIG EAST All-Academic Team honoree assists with the 'Cuse Cares Community Service Program by teaching volleyball to local students and is a member of the SU Concert Band. McCabe is pursuing a degree in biology with a minor in mathematics.
She will now be considered for national honors as an Academic All-American, which will be announced on Thursday, Dec. 12. Last year, former SU volleyball player Samantha Hinz also earned Academic All-District.
The all-district teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Student-athletes need to be at least sophomores in academic standing at their institution to be eligible. They also need to have a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or better on a 4.0 scale.
McCabe and the Orange, winners of seven of the last nine matches, look to continue its hot play on at Boston College on Sunday, Nov. 10 at 4 p.m.
