Orange Soccer Completes Recruiting Class

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse women's soccer has added five student-athletes to its 2013 recruiting class head coach Phil Wheddon announced on Tuesday, June 11. Maddie Damm (North Kingstown, R.I.), Lindsay DeStefano (Potomac, Md.), Blake Johnson (Atlanta, Ga.), MacKenzie Moranz (Pittsford, N.Y.) and Ashley Williams (Whitesboro, N.Y.) will join the Orange this fall.
Damm is this year's Gatorade Player of the Year for Rhode Island and earned NSCAA All-America and All-Region honors. The two-time team captain at North Kingstown High School was an All-State First Team honoree as a junior and senior. She tallied 11 goals and nine assists as a senior and ended her career with 51 goals and 37 assists. Damm plays for the Scorpions ECNL soccer club.
DeStefano served as team captain for Thomas S. Wootton High School as a junior and senior. The goalkeeper earned second-team all-state and all-county honors. She was selected to play in the 2012 All-State Maryland Girls Game. In addition, DeStefano plays for the Bethesda Freedom ECNL 94/95 club.
Johnson recently completed her senior season at Woodward Academy, helping the War Eagles to the state semifinals. The four-year member of the varsity squad was the team's defensive MVP in 2011 when it advanced to the state finals. She recorded 15 goals and one assist as a junior. Johnson is a member of the Gwinnett Soccer Association ECNL club.
Moranz posted 147 saves and a .913 save percentage as a senior at Pittsford Sutherland High School. She was named first-team all-county, second-team all-Greater Rochester and third-team all-state in 2012. Moranz recorded 421 saves while allowing just 48 goals in five seasons on the varsity team. She also played on the Rochester Futbol Club and the Doug Miller Soccer Club.
Williams recorded 42 points as a senior at Whitesboro High School and plays for the Rising Stars soccer club. She led the squad with 32 goals and 14 assists. She was named the All-Mohawk Valley Player of the Year after leading the Warriors to the Section III Class A final for the third consecutive year. Williams finished her career with 119 goals and 51 assists. She made the 2011 Region I ODP team and was part of the 2012 ODP National Camp.
Syracuse's recruiting class also includes Jenny Olensky (Short Hills, N.J.), Maddie Iozzi (Ajax, Ontario), Emma Firenze (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) and Stephanie Skilton (Auckland, New Zealand).
