Law Joins Orange Field Hockey Staff

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Syracuse field hockey head coach Ange Bradley has announced the hiring of Allan Law as assistant coach. A native of Scotland, Law joins the Orange as a highly-accomplished player and coach.

"I am happy to welcome Allan to our Syracuse family," Bradley said. "He has played at the highest level for his country, both indoor and outdoor. Allan has a tremendous amount of experience developing the technical skills in athletes. He has worked with both the Scottish men's and women's teams developing their skills. Having played at a high level, Allan has a keen eye for detail and expects high standards from his athletes."

Law, Scotland's Men's Coach of the Year in 2009, has most recently served as the head coach of the Scotland U16 Boy's National Team (2011-present) and Head of Hockey for the St. Andrew's University Hockey Club (2012-present), while performing the role of senior hockey coach and coach education coordinator at Glenalmond College, working with boys and girls from U14 to U18 levels.

"I would like to thank Ange Bradley for giving me this amazing opportunity to coach at one of the top field hockey programs in the United States," Law said. "The chance to work with and learn from Ange is an exciting prospect."

Besides his many accomplishments coaching the sport, Law has had a success career as a player, currently playing for the St. Andrew's Hockey Club since 2012. He has previously played for the Clydesdale Hockey Club (2011-12), Dundee Wanderers Hockey Club (1996-2011) and the Teddington Hockey Club First Team (2002-03).

At the national level, Law played on Scotland's U16 team in 1996-98, the U18 squad from 1999-2000, and the Scottish Senior National Team for both in indoor and outdoor from 2002-10. He played in the Great Britain Super League in 2009.

With Dundee, Law led the club to U18 indoor titles in 1996-2000, the Scottish Indoor Championship in 2002 and the Indoor European B Division bronze medal in 2004.

Law helped lead St. Andrew's to a promotion to National Division 2 in 2009-10 and its men's first team to Bucs Division 1 in 2012.

Law joins assistant coach Tara Zollinger and volunteer assistant Mike Young on Bradley's staff as Syracuse prepares for its first season in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Orange is coming off a 19-3 season in which it was ranked No. 1 in the country for three weeks, won the BIG EAST regular season title in its final year in the conference, and advanced to the Final Four for the second time in program history.

"The opportunity to work with and develop alongside many quality student-athletes and coaching staff is exciting," Law said. "Syracuse is a winning environment and I'm looking forward to contributing towards an already very successful program.

"He will be responsible for assisting with video analysis and the technical development of our players," Bradley said. "His coaching experience, playing experience and ability to do video analysis will be a wonderful addition to our team we transition to the ACC."
