SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Former Syracuse men's soccer star Patrice Bernier has been named to the 2013 Major League Soccer (MLS) All-Star Team. Bernier, a midfielder for the Montreal Impact, and his all-star teammates will face Italy's AS Roma Wednesday, July 31 in the 2013 AT&T MLS All-Star Game at Sporting Park in Kansas City. The game is slated to begin at 9 p.m. (EST) on ESPN2.

Bernier became the first former Orange player to be tabbed an MLS All-Star when he was picked to the 20-man roster by the league earlier this month. Bernier has two goals and five assists in 20 matches for Montreal, which currently sits in third place in the Eastern Conference with a 10-5-5 overall record..

Now in his second season with Impact, Bernier was Montreal's MVP in 2012 after tallying nine goals and eight assists as an MLS rookie. Â

At Syracuse, Bernier was a member of the NSCAA All-Region First Team in 1999 and was a BIG EAST All-Rookie Team choice in 1998. He scored 16 points in 1998 and tallied 18 in 1999 for a total of 34 career points.
