SYRACUSE, N.Y. -Â The No. 5 Syracuse field hockey team (7-1) heads to Albany to face No. 6 Stanford (5-1) on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Alumni Field.
• The Orange is 7-1 to start its 2013 campaign, outscoring its opposition, 29-11. SU opened at the Asics Invitational in Hempstead, N.Y. (8/30-9/1) with wins vs. Quinnipiac (5-1) and Hofstra (4-1), before heading to East Lansing, Mich. (9/6-8), where it defeated Michigan State (4-0) and Kent State (6-2). SU opened at home with wins vs. No. 7 Massachusetts (2-1) and Ohio State (1-0) on the weekend of Sept. 13-15 be fore splitting last weekend, losing its ACC opener at No. 17 Boston College, 6-3, before bouncing back with an impressive 4-0 win at home vs. No. 6 Princeton.
• The Orange returns home next weekend to host No. 4 Virginia on Saturday at 1 p.m. and Monmouth on Sunday at 2 p.m.
• Coming off one of the most successful seasons in program history - going 19-3, winning the BIG EAST regular season title, spending three weeks at No. 1 in the country and advancing to the program's second Final Four - the Orange makes the move to the ACC in 2013 with a squad that includes 10 newcomers.

ORANGE-HOT AT HOME
• The Orange has been dominating at J.S. Coyne Stadium since seventh-year head coach Ange Bradley took the reins in 2007 as it currently rides a 39-game home winning streak dating back to 2009.
• SU has outscored the opposition, 162-30, or an average score of 4.2-0.8, during the winning streak.
• In home games under Bradley (since 2007), Syracuse is 55-6 (.902) overall. That breaks down to 39-4 (.907) in non-conference games and 16-2 (.889) in conference games.
• The Orange is off to a 3-0 start at home this season. Last season, SU went 8-0 at home and outscored its opponents, 34-7. In 2011, Syracuse went 13-0 at home and outscored the opposition, 65-9.Â
• SU's last home loss was on Sept. 6, 2009 vs. No. 7 Princeton, 3-2, in overtime.
ORANGE AT NO. 5
• For the second week in a row, Syracuse is ranked No. 5 in this week's Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I Coaches Poll.
• The Orange started the season ranked No. 5 in the preseason poll, before slipping to No. 6 on Sept. 10.
• SU finished 2012 ranked No. 5 after the Orange was No. 3 for three straight weeks in the poll after spending the previous three weeks at No. 1.
TOP 10 STREAK REACHES 57 WEEKS
• The Orange has now been ranked in the top 10 of the NFHCA poll for 57-straight weeks, dating back to Aug. 28, 2008.Â
• SU's No. 5 ranking in the preseason poll ran the streak to 54 weeks.
• The Orange was ranked No. 1 for three weeks in 2012 after spending three weeks at No. 2 and debuting at No. 7 in the preseason poll.
VS. RANKED OPPONENTS
• Syracuse is 2-1 against ranked opponents this season, most recently beating No. 6 Princeton, 4-0, on Sept. 22. The other win came against No. 7 Massachusetts, 2-1, on Sept. 13.
• Syracuse is 45-54 against ranked teams since 2007, but is an impressive 19-7 in its last 26. SU was 10-2 in 2012 and was 7-4 in 2011.
• The only losses to ranked teams in 2012 were to No. 5 UConn, 4-3, in the BIG EAST Championship and to No. 1 North Carolina in the national semifinals. This season's loss was at No. 17 Boston College, 6-3.
• The Orange is 20-33 against top 10 teams since 2007.
SERIES VS. STANFORD
• Syracuse is 5-0 all-time against Stanford in a series that dates back to 1997.
• The last time the teams met, Alyssa Manley and Kelsey Millman scored two goals each to lead No. 1 Syracuse to a 4-1 victory over No. 13 Stanford on Oct. 12, 2012 at UMass' Garber Field and give head coach Ange Bradley her 100th victory at Syracuse.
• The Orange defeated the Cardinal, 2-1 in overtime , in the on Oct. 15, 2010 in Albany. Heather Susek scored the OT winner after Amy Kee tied the game in the second half. Leonie Geyer set up Susek's goal.
• The previous meetings were on Sept. 4, 2005, a 3-2 overtime win in Palo Alto; on Sept. 6, 2002, a 3-0 win at home; and Sept. 14, 1997, a 1-0 win at Cal.
SCOUTING THE CARDINAL
• Stanford is 6-1 on the season, running off six wins in a row after a season-opening double-overtime loss to Connecticut, 2-1. It is ranked No. 6 in this week's Penn Monto/NFHCA Coaches Poll.
• The Cardinal has shut out its last four opponents and boasts the nation's top defense, allowing just 0.69 goals per game behind goalkeeper Dulcie Davies.
• Stanford's 28th ranked offense is led by Kelsey Harbin's four goals and two assists for 10 total points.
'CUSE BEATS NATIONAL CHAMPS• The Cardinal has shut out its last four opponents and boasts the nation's top defense, allowing just 0.69 goals per game behind goalkeeper Dulcie Davies.
• Stanford's 28th ranked offense is led by Kelsey Harbin's four goals and two assists for 10 total points.
• Serra Degnan scored two of the Orange's four first-half goals that led Syracuse to a 4-0 shutout victory vs. defending national champion and sixth-ranked Princeton on Sunday afternoon at J.S. Coyne Stadium. The win ran the Orange's home winning streak to 39 games, dating back to 2009.
• Degnan, a freshman from Wyoming, Pa., netted the first two goals of her collegiate career, while Leonie Geyer and Alyssa Manley also scored for Syracuse, which rebounded well from its first defeat of the season, 6-3 at No. 17 Boston College on Friday.
• The Orange used a dominating performance in the opening half, outshooting the Tigers, 8-2, and scoring all four goals between the 10th and 27th minutes.
ORANGE DROP ACC OPENER
• Despite a 19-6 shot advantage, SU lost, 6-3, at No. 17 Boston College on Friday afternoon. Emma Russell factored into all three Orange goals with a goal and two assists, while six different scorers accounted for the Eagles' goals.
• The Eagles scored four straight first-half goals between the 24th and 29th minutes, erasing a 2-1 Syracuse lead and putting the hosts in control, 5-2. The Orange was able to score a late first-half goal to pull within two, 5-3, but the Eagles shut out SU in the second half while tacking on an insurance goal to win, 6-3.
GEYER ON A ROLL
• Leonie Geyer was named ACC Field Hockey Player of the Week on Sept. 17 by the conference office. The senior midfielder scored the game-winning goal in both of the No. 5 Orange's victories the previous week.
• Geyer began the weekend by scoring the game-winner in the 45th minute, breaking a 1-1 tie and sending SU to a 2-1 victory vs. No. 7 Massachusetts on Sept. 13 at Coyne Stadium. She followed that up on Sunday by netting the game's lone goal, scoring off a penalty corner with 4:36 remaining, to beat Ohio State, 1-0. The two wins extended the Orange's home winning streak to 38 games.
• She followed that up with a one-goal, one-assist game at No. 17 Boston College and netted the game-winner in a 4-0 victory vs. No. 6 Princeton last weekend.
• Geyer now has scored goals in four straight games. She has six goals and seven assists for a team-high 19 points on the season. She is fifth in the NCAA and second in the ACC in assists per game (0.88).
HELLO ACC!
• Syracuse plays its inaugural season in the Atlantic Coast Conference in 2013. The Orange brings the nation's premier field hockey conference's total of programs to seven.
• All seven ACC teams are currently ranked in the NFHCA Top 20, including four of the top five (No. 1 North Carolina, No. 2 Maryland, No. 4 Virginia and No. 5 Syracuse).
• ACC teams have been dominating the early non-conference portion of their schedules, amassing a 50-7 combined record going into this week, with three of those seven losses coming in conference games.
• ACC teams have won 10 out of the last 11 national championships and had at least one team in the title game for each of the last 14 years.
LOOKING AHEAD
• Syracuse returns home next weekend to host two games at J.S. Coyne Stadium.
• On Saturday at 1 p.m., the Orange hosts the first ever ACC game at Coyne when No. 4 Virginia comes to town. The Orange and Cavaliers last met in 2010, with Virginia winning, 2-1 in overtime.
• On Sunday at 2 p.m., SU welcomes Monmouth to Coyne for a non-conference game. The Orange opened last season at Monmouth on Aug. 24, defeating the Hawks, 8-1.
