2013 Soccer America All-Freshman Teams
NEW YORK, N.Y. – After leading the Orange with 23 points and 10 goals during the 2013 season, Syracuse University men's soccer forward Emil Ekblom has been named to the Soccer America All-Freshman Second Team, announced on Wednesday.

The freshman phenom was also named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com Freshman Best XI and the College Soccer News All-Freshman Second Teams, as well as the 2013 NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division I Men's All-Northeast Region Third Team. In addition, Ekblom earned spots on the All-ACC Second Team and All-ACC Freshman Team after his stellar inaugural campaign with the Orange.

Ekblom led the squad and finished in third in the Atlantic Coast Conference in points and goals. Ekblom posted SU's first hat trick since 2008 and set an SU Soccer Stadium record with seven points (three goals, one assist) against NC State on Oct. 4. Following his performance against the Wolfpack, he was named the Disney Soccer/NSCAA Division I Men's Player of the Week and the ECAC co-Offensive Player of the Week. He also earned spots on the TopDrawerSoccer.com and College Soccer News National Teams of the Week.

Ekblom's 10 goals were the third-most by an SU freshman in program history and he was the first double-digit Orange goal-scorer since Hansen Woodruff (10 goals) in 2007.
