O'Neill Receives Weekly Honor

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Freshman Alana O'Neill was honored as a Primetime Performer in the College Soccer 360, CS360, Primetime Performers Weekly Honor Roll. The Chester, N.Y. native received this honor after netting her first two career goals in the 3-0 win against Boston College.

CS360 called O'Neill a "versatile reserve newcomer" and applauded her ability to both "chase and press," quoting what Syracuse head coach Phil Wheddon said after the match against Boston College. "Alana is one of our most versatile players," Wheddon said. "I've seen her play up front, I've seen her play in the back. It's just a case of someone we knew who could chase and press."

In the match against Boston College, O'Neill scored her first career goal in the 73rd minute off a through ball played by Maya Pitts, giving the Orange a 1-0 lead. O'Neill notched her second goal six minutes later after she headed the ball into the net off of Jackie Firenze's corner kick, increasing the lead to 2-0. Â

O'Neill and her teammates are back in action tonight when they take on No. 2/2 Florida State at 7 p.m.
