
Orange Earns No. 2 Seed for ACC Championship

'Cuse will face either Duke or NC State in quarterfinal round
GREENSBORO, N.C. — The field for the 2014 ACC Men's Soccer Championship is set and Syracuse (14-2-1, 5-2-1 ACC) received the No. 2 seed in the 10-team tournament when the bracket was revealed late last night. The Orange will host a quarterfinal match against the winner of No. 10 North Carolina State and No. 7 Duke on Sunday, Nov. 9 at 1 p.m. at the SU Soccer Stadium.

Syracuse and Clemson both totaled 16 points and are co-champions of the Atlantic Division. The Orange received the higher seed by virtue of its 1-0 head-to-head win against the Tigers on Sept. 20. Notre Dame is the No. 1 overall seed, winning the Coastal Division with a conference-best 19 points.

It's the first conference tournament berth for the Orange since joining the ACC and the team's second in three seasons. Syracuse earned the Red Division's No. 2 seed for the 2012 BIG EAST Championship.

This year's tournament begins with two first-round games on Wednesday, Nov. 5. The top six seeds received byes into the quarterfinal round, which will be played Sunday, Nov. 9. The top four seeds earned home-field advantage for those matches.

The semifinals and championship match will be played in Cary, N.C. at WakeMed Soccer Park. The semifinals take place on Friday, Nov. 14 and the final kicks off at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 16 with the tournament champion receiving the ACC's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Tickets for Syracuse's quarterfinal match are $8 for adults and $5 for youth and senior citizens. Students with ACC college IDs are free.
