Bono Adds All-America Honors to Growing List of Accolades

Goalkeeper is 'Cuse's first NSCAA First Team All-American in more than 60 years
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Just hours after being selected as a finalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy as national player of the year, Syracuse men's soccer goalkeeper Alex Bono was named a first-team All-American by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).

The junior standout is the fourth player in school history to receive NSCAA All-America First Team honors and the first since Bill Nelson in 1952. Overall, Bono is the program's sixth All-American and first since 1992 when Paul Young earned second-team plaudits.

The 2014 ACC Defensive Player of the Year, Bono set the Syracuse single-season records for goals-against average (0.55), shutouts (12) and minutes played (1,949). He finished the campaign with a 16-4-1 overall record and currently ranks seventh nationally in both goals-against average and save percentage (.848).
