SYRACUSE, N.Y. – A change in travel plans due to the weather has the Syracuse softball team now traveling to Georgia Tech for a three-game series beginning on Friday, March 21 with a single tilt at 4 p.m. A doubleheader will be played on Saturday, March 22 starting at 2 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT:
Syracuse swept Virginia, outscoring the Cavaliers 35-4 in the three-game series. Freshman Sydney O'Hara pitched a one-hitter in an 8-0 win in the opener and was 3-for-3 at the plate with a homer and three RBIs. In the nightcap, junior Mary Dombrowski and freshman Alyssa Dewes each went 2-for-3 with three RBIs to lead the Orange to a 13-1 win, SU's largest margin of victory in nearly three years. Syracuse exploded for a season-high 14 runs in the finale with senior Jasmine Watson blasting two homers in a 14-1 win.

O'HARA LAUDED AS NATIONAL PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Stringing together an exceptional week of pitching and hitting performances, freshman Sydney O'Hara became the first player in program history to be selected as the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I National Player of the Week on Tuesday, March 18. That came one day after being named the ACC Player of the Week. O'Hara posted a 1.22 earned run average with 33 strikeouts n 23 innings on the rubber with two complete game shutouts. At the plate, the rookie batted .500 (10-20) with team highs of three home runs, 11 runs batted in, 10 runs scored and three doubles.

DANIELS SETS STEALS RECORD:
With three more steals last weekend, senior Shirley Daniels tied and passed the SU career record with 71 swipes. The old record of 71 was held by older sister Lisaira. Daniels currently ranks 13th among active Division I NCAA softball players in career steals.

WATSON WALKS HOME:
Senior Jasmine Watson's two-homer game against Virginia was the fourth multi-homer game of her career. No other player in Syracuse history has more than three in a career.

O'HARA PITCHES FOURTH SHUTOUT:
For the fourth time in just 10 starts into her career, freshman Sydney O'Hara threw a complete-game shutout with. In addition to her no-hitter in the season-opener, O'Hara threw six-hit shutouts versus Nebraska-Omaha and at Elon. Most recently she tossed a one-hitter at Virginia. O'Hara is currently ranks ninth in both single-season and career lists for shutouts at SU.

OZANNE IN THE ZONE:
Sophomore Corinne Ozanne recorded the second multi-homer game of her career, joining only six other players in program history to accomplish the feat Ozanne set the school record with a three-homer game on April 14, 2013.

SCOUTING GEORGIA TECH:
The Yellow Jackets had won seven of their last 10 games entering a doubleheader with NC State, but was swept and now sit at 7-6 in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Georgia Tech has two key victories over ranked teams this season with a 2-1 win over then No. 21 Tulsa and a 7-3 victory over Notre Dame, who was also ranked 21st in the nation at the time. Alysha Rudnik is the team leader with 23 RBIs and six homers and is one of five players batting above .300. In the circle, Kylie Kleinschmidt has started 17 contests this season, yielding a 1.58 earned run average with 14 complete games, two shutouts and 97 strikeouts in 102 innings.

SERIES HISTORY:
The two institutions have only met once before, a 6-4 Yellow Jacket win back in 2002 as part of the National Invitational Softball Tournament in Pleasanton, Calif.

LOOKING AHEAD:
The Orange returns to Syracuse for the first time all season to host North Carolina in its home opener on Saturday, March 29 at 1 p.m. That will be the first game of a doubleheader with the series finale coming on Sunday, March 30 at 12 p.m.
