SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The Syracuse University women's soccer squad continued its spring schedule with a pair of 45-minute exhibition matches at the SU Soccer Stadium on Saturday, April 5. The Orange battled the Western New York (WNY) Flash to a 0-0 tie, while SU defeated Colgate, 1-0. Colgate and the WNY Flash also faced off in the three-game, round-robin event.
Syracuse was able to create several scoring chances in the first game against the WNY Flash, but were unable capitalize. SU benefited from strong goalkeeping from Brittany Anghel, who made several diving saves to keep the score deadlocked and gain the result.
Stephanie Skilton's efforts were the difference against the Raiders, as her strike from just outside the 18 put SU ahead 1-0. Goalkeeper Mackenzie Moranz thwarted any attempt for a Colgate equalizer, as the Orange emerged victorious.
SU returns to the pitch when it visits Albany on Saturday, April 12. The Orange concludes its spring slate on April 26 when it hosts Canisius.
