Skilton to Compete in FIFA U-20 World Cup

Stephanie Skilton made her debut for New Zealand's senior national team last fall.
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse women's soccer sophomore forward Stephanie Skilton will compete for New Zealand in the FIFA U-20 World Cup, which will be held in Canada in August. She led the Orange in scoring in her rookie campaign with 19 points on nine goals and one assist.
Skilton is one of six players on New Zealand's roster who have seen playing time with the nation's senior national team. As a freshman in 2013, she recorded the highest point total for a member of the Orange since 2001. In addition, her 19 points are the fifth-highest total for a freshman in program history.
New Zealand opens its Group D schedule against Paraguay in Montreal on Thursday, August 7 before taking on France on Sunday, Aug. 10. The team then travels to Toronto for its final group stage match against Costa Rica on Thursday, Aug. 14.
