Buescher, Orange Among National Leaders

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Sophomore Julian Buescher has climbed to No. 7 in the nation in assists and Syracuse ranks seventh in total points in the latest NCAA men's soccer statistics released on Monday, Nov. 30.

Buescher recorded an assist on the Orange's final goal in its 3-1 victory against Seattle in the NCAA Tournament third round on Sunday. He leads the team and the ACC with 11 assists this season, which is tied for the third-highest single-season total in school history. Buescher also ranks 18th in the country in assists per game (0.48) and 23rd in total points (27).

In addition, junior Ben Polk is 21st in the national statistics in goals (11) and 29th in points (26), while redshirt junior Liam Callahan is 29th in assists (8).

As a team, Syracuse ranks seventh in total points with 131, which is the sixth-highest single-season total in program history. The Orange is also ninth in total goals (45) and 10th in total assists (41).

No. 6 Syracuse will make its first appearance in the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals on Saturday, Dec. 5 when it hosts Boston College at 2 p.m. at the SU Soccer Stadium. Admission is $8 for adults and $5 for youth ages 18 and under.
