
Goodale to be Inducted into Maine Sports Hall of Fame

Three-time All-American at Syracuse
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Former Syracuse University rower and Olympic gold medalist Anna Goodale '05 will be inducted into the Maine Sports Hall of Fame. A native of Camden, Maine, Goodale will be inducted on May 3 at the Augusta Civic Center in Augusta, Maine.

As a member of the United States women's eight, Goodale won a gold medal at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. It marked the first time the United States had taken home top honors in that event since 1984. She also helped the women's eight to gold-medal finishes at the 2006, 2007, and 2009 World Rowing Championships.

Goodale was recognized as a three-time All-American during her collegiate career at Syracuse. She earned first-team honors in 2003 and 2005 and was named to the second team in 2004. Goodale was also named to the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) Mid-Atlantic Region All-American First Team her sophomore, junior, and senior seasons.

The Camden, Maine native also received numerous academic honors during her four years at Syracuse. Goodale graduated Summa Cum Laude from the College of Visual and Performing Arts in 2005. She was recognized as the 2005 Orange Plus Scholar Athlete of the Year and received the Soladay Award, the most prestigious award given to a student-athlete by the Department of Athletics. In addition, she was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District I Second Team in 2005 and earned the CRCA National Scholar Athlete Award on three occasions.

During her tenure at Syracuse, the Orange won two BIG EAST Championships in 2002 and 2003 and made two appearances at the NCAA Championships (2002 and 2005).
