SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Men's soccer coach Ian McIntyre released the teams' 2015 spring schedule on Wednesday, March 11. Beginning later this month March and through April, the Orange will play six matches, including four at home. The slate features games against two professional clubs, including the Rochester Rhinos of USL PRO.
Â
"The boys have been working extremely hard in practice and they are looking forward to testing themselves against some very strong competition," McIntyre said. "We have a young squad and it is a wonderful opportunity for our guys to gain experience and stake claims for important roles on the team as we continue to evolve as a group."
Â
SU opens the spring season with consecutive road matches, starting March 20 against the Rhinos at Sahlen's Stadium. Another road tilt follows on March 28 versus the Ottawa Fury FC of the North America Soccer League (NASL). That match that will be played at St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y.
Â
The Orange makes its home debut April 4 against Canada's Vaughan SC. Syracuse also hosts Siena (April 11), junior college powerhouse Herkimer County Community College (April 18) and Colgate (April 23) at the SU Soccer Stadium.
Â
Syracuse posted a 16-4-1 record last season and won a share of the ACC Atlantic Division title. Rising junior Chris Nanco is the squad's top returning scorer. Nanco totaled 12 points on five goals and two assists in 2014.
