Jocelyn Cater struck out 15 while Sydney O’Hara knocked in all three runs in the shutout

CLEARWATER, Fla. – Syracuse (12-14) blanked Towson (9-5) for its third straight victory. Jocelyn Cater threw seven scoreless with 15 strikeouts while Sydney O'Hara three runs in the 3-0 win.

The Highlights

Cater struck out 15, allowed two hits and three walks in the complete game shutout. The win marks her eighth of the season and her fifth game this year with 10 or more strikeouts. She now has a 2.50 ERA.
O'Hara finished the game two-for-three with a home run, two runs batted in and a run scored. She finished the week hitting .381 with eight hits, three home runs, nine runs batted in and five runs scored.
Corinne Ozanne singled to lead off the second and scored on O'Hara's home run.
Maddi Doane doubled for the eighth time this season and later scored on O'Hara's single.

More K's For Cater, O'Hara Continues To Rake
Syracuse struck early when Ozanne led off with a single and O'Hara sent her third home run this week into orbit to give 'Cuse a 2-0 lead after two innings. O'Hara added the third run the following inning when she singled to center, scoring Doane from second after she doubled earlier in the third.

The three runs was all Cater needed to pitch with confidence. After recording strikeouts in the first six outs, she set the tone the rest of the way. Towson threatened in the fourth with a runner in scoring position and one out but Cater struck out the next two batters to put an end to any confidence gained by the Tigers.

After striking out the side in the fifth, Towson made a push in the sixth with runners on the corners and two out but Cater once again recorded the strikeout to end the inning. The Tigers managed to get a runner on in the seventh as well but two strikeouts and a heads up play to get the lead runner by Fernandez slammed the door to give 'Cuse a 3-0 victory.
