2015 Schedule
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Home matches against Louisville and Clemson, both of which advanced to the round of 16 in last year's NCAA Tournament, highlight the Syracuse men's soccer 2015 schedule. The Orange is coming off the program's most successful season, which included a No. 1 ranking for the first time in school history.
Â
"Our 2015 schedule will once again be an exciting challenge and this year we will have a lot of new players to integrate into our young team," head coach Ian McIntyre said. "We wanted to ensure that we face some very strong early competition in preparation for our ACC opener against Louisville. I know that our wonderful Syracuse supporters will enjoy coming out again this fall to the SU Soccer Stadium to watch some wonderful soccer and be an integral part of our soccer experience." Â Â
Â
Syracuse will play three exhibition matches, hosting Georgetown (Aug. 15) and Buffalo (Aug. 19) before traveling to Storrs to take on Connecticut (Aug. 22). SU officially opens the season with a pair of road matches at Hofstra (Aug. 28) and Bucknell (Aug. 30), which won the Patriot League Tournament last season to earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Â
The Orange returns home for the Central New York Classic. Syracuse takes on UC Riverside on Friday, Sept. 4 at 2 p.m. in its home opener before facing Rutgers on Sunday, Sept. 6 at 7 p.m. Louisville visits the SU Soccer Stadium on Sept. 11 for the Orange's ACC opener.
Â
After a road game at Wake Forest, a 2014 NCAA Tournament participant, Syracuse returns home to host Binghamton (Sept. 22) and Pittsburgh (Sept. 25). A road match at Colgate on Sept. 29 begins a stretch of three of four on the road for SU, which includes matches at Duke (Oct. 2) and North Carolina (Oct. 10), a 2014 NCAA Tournament at-large selection, and a home contest against Albany (Oct. 6).
Â
Syracuse will play four of its final five regular-season matches on its home pitch, starting with Bowling Green on Oct. 13. Clemson (Oct. 17), Hartford (Oct. 20) and North Carolina State (Oct. 23) visit the SU Soccer Stadium before the Orange closes out the regular season at Boston College on Oct. 30.
Â
Last season, Syracuse posted a record of 16-4-1, one win shy of the school record, and advanced to the third round of the NCAA Tournament. The Orange held the top spot in the NSCAA poll for two weeks, marking the first time in school history that SU earned the nation's No. 1 ranking.
