
Slim and Dutch U20 Team Place Third

First medal in FIBA U20 European Championship history for Dutch
TEGUISE, Spain – Rising junior forward Isabella Slim and the Netherlands U20 national team finished in third place at the 2015 FIBA U20 European Championship. It marked the first time that the Netherlands had earned a medal in the event since its inception in 2000.

On July 12, the Netherlands defeated Russia, 63-51, in the third-place game to secure the bronze medal at the continental championship. Slim recorded her fourth double-double of the tournament against the Russians, recording 11 points and 10 rebounds. It marked her third straight double-double of the competition, as well.

Slim and the Netherlands advanced to the semifinals via a 64-55 victory against Slovakia on July 10. Slim posted a 10-point, 10-rebound outing to guide the Dutch in the quarterfinals. The Amsterdam, Netherlands native put up an 11-point, 12-rebound effort against France on July 11, but the Netherlands suffered a nine-point loss.

In two seasons at Syracuse, Slim has started all 65 games. She joins Brianna Butler as the only student-athletes to start every contest the past two seasons for the women's basketball program. Slim has averaged 2.5 points and 1.9 rebounds for the Orange.Â
