After anchoring a back line that allowed just 15 shots and two goals in a pair of wins over ranked opponents, and recording three goals and an assist against No. 17 Boston University, sophomore Roos Weers earned ACC co-Defensive Player of the Week honors.
The Bussum, Netherlands native played a key role in No. 2 Syracuse's defensive efforts in a 3-1 win over No. 4 Virginia. Weers, and the 'Cuse defense allowed just seven shots to the Cavaliers and just one after halftime.
She then followed up that performance by scoring three times and recording an assist in a 5-1 win over Boston, where the Orange again held their opponent to under 10 shots.
Weers netted the first, third and fifth tallies against the Terriers off corners, while setting up the team's fourth goal with a long cross-field pass to senior Emma Russell.
Next, Weers and the Orange will host a pair of games, beginning with Monmouth on Friday at 4 p.m., before taking on Cornell on Sunday at 2 p.m.
