Hot Start
- The Syracuse field hockey team won its first-three games of 2015 during a three-game, four day west coast road trip where the Orange took down
- Newcomers to the Orange powered the road trip, with Emma Lamison, Roos Weers, Alma Fenne and Emma Tufts each scored in the three-game road trip.
- The Orange allowed just two goals over the three games as well, with senior Jess Jecko boasting a 0.81 goals against average.
'Cuse vs. UMass
- SU is 18-7-1 all-time against the Minutewomen in a series that has been played 22-straight seasons dating back to the 1994 season and including this year's meeting.
- Most recently, the Orange defeated UMass 6-4 on Nov. 1, 2014.
- This is the 12th time UMass has played at Syracuse with the Orange owning an 10-1 all-time record at J.S. Coyne Stadium vs. UMass. Syracuse has played 14 times at UMass and one neutral site game in the series. 4Senior Alyssa Manley leads the current 'Cuse scoring efforts against Umass in her career. She has five career points on one goal and three assists in four games against the Minutewomen. Fellow senior Emma Russell has a goal and two assists for four points aginst UMass, while Lies Lagerweij had a two-goal game as a freshman against UMass last season.
- Jess Jecko has started two games against UMass in her career, allowing one goal over 70 minutes in 2013, and two goals over 66:40 in 2014.
Milestone Watch
- Senior forward Emma Russell has her sights set on the program's all-time goal scoring record.
- Russell is just four goals shy of tying Lindsey Conrad at 47 and six goals from becoming the alltime leader. She currently ranks second on the list.
- Russell also is only 36 points shy of owning the program record for points. She sits in fifth with 103, seven points behind Leonie Geyer for fourth, nine behind Conrad, 17 behind Maggie Befort and 36 behind Martina Loncaria.
- Senior Jess Jecko is currently sixth in goals against average at Syracuse (1.41). Cheri Herr owns the program record with a 1.00 goals against average.
Home Openers
- The Orange is 26-10 all-time in home openers, including a perfect 8-0 under head coach Ange Bradley.
- Under Bradley, the Orange has outscored its opponents 36-5 in home openers.
- Syracuse has not lost a home opener since 2005.
Jecko Named ACC Defensive Player of the Week
- Senior goalkeeper Jess Jecko earned ACC Defensive Player of the Week honors after allowing just two goals in nearly 224 minutes of play on the season.
- Jecko turned away a late barrage of shots in the contest vs. No. 6 Stanford to preserve the tie and allow the Orange to win the season opener in overtime.
- She followed that up with a shutout of UC Davis and allowed one late goal vs. Pacific as the only blemish on her resume in that game.
The game is scheduled to get underway at 1 p.m.
