
Orange Moves to #3 in Latest Poll

Sets up top-three matchup vs. No. 2 North Carolina Saturday
After opening the season 4-0, with two wins over ranked opponents and allowing just two goals in nearly 300 minutes played, the Syracuse field hockey team moved up to No. 3 in the first weekly Penn Monto/NFHCA Poll.
The Orange, which started the year ranked fourth in the preseason poll received 719 points and three first-place votes by the 41 coaches who voted.
UConn (801 pts/29 first-place votes) remained at No. 1, while Syracuse's next opponent North Carolina was slotted second (767 pts./ 9 first-place votes). Duke (659 pts.) and Stanford (596 pts.), who Syracuse defeated in the season opener, rank fourth and fifth respectively.
All-seven ACC teams are ranked in the top-12.
Syracuse is scheduled to take on the Tar Heels at 1 p.m. on Saturday, in an 'Orange Out' game, where fans are encouraged to wear orange to support 'Cuse. In addition, the first-100 fans will be presented with free pom-poms.
