Â
In its last game, Syracuse lost against No. 14/17 Louisville, 71-53, on Jan. 25. With the loss, it marks the first time in 2015-16 that the club has lost two straight games. Junior guard Alexis Peterson paced the team in scoring, tallying 13 points on the night.
Â
Boston College comes into Wednesday's game with a 13-6 overall record and 1-5 mark in conference competition. The Eagles lost its last game, a 65-59 decision against Wake Forest on Jan. 24. Freshman center Mariella Fasoula had 20 points on the day.
Â
Guess Who's Back
Redshirt junior guard Brittney Sykes is back after missing most of the 2014-15 season due to injury. Sykes played in three contests last season before suffering a torn ACL against Notre Dame on Jan. 4. In three games played, she averaged 2.3 points and 4.3 rebounds per game.
Â
In the team's final game of the South Point Shootout in Las Vegas, Sykes put on a show against in-state foe Fordham on Nov. 28. The redshirt junior guard scored a season-high 18 points on 8-of-9 shooting from the field. Her .889 field goal percentage was a career-best.
Â
Sykes put together a complete performance against Jacksonville on Dec. 21 in the friendly confines of the Carrier Dome. She recorded 11 points and 10 rebounds, notching the first Syracuse double-double of the 2015-16 season. It marked her fifth double-double of her collegiate career.
Â
Sykes is approaching a milestone in 2015-16. She is looking to become the 25th player in program history to score 1,000 points in her collegiate career. She is currently four points shy of the 1,000-point mark.
Â
Last Time Out
Syracuse suffered its second consecutive loss on Jan. 25 in the Carrier Dome, losing against No. 14/17 Louisville, 71-53. It marks the first time Syracuse has lost two straight games this season.
Â
The Orange got off to a slow start on Monday evening against Louisville. Syracuse was 6-for-33 from the field (18.2 percent) and trailed, 39-20, at halftime. It marked the fewest points scored by the club in the opening 20 minutes since Feb. 15, 2015 at Virginia Tech.
Â
Once down 29 points in the second quarter, Syracuse came out with a different mindset in the third quarter. A free throw from senior guard Cornelia Fondren with 15 seconds remaining in the frame made it an 11-point contest. That would be the closest it got, as Louisville outscored the Orange, 15-8, over the remainder of regulation.
Â
For the 10th time this year, junior guard Alexis Peterson led the squad in scoring, tallying 13 points on the night. Peterson also paced the team with six assists.
