
Peterson Named to Lieberman Award Watch List

Averaged 20.7 points per game in 2016 postseason run
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced that senior guard Alexis Peterson of the Syracuse women's basketball team is on the watch list for the 2017 Nancy Lieberman Award, which annually recognizes the top point guard in women's NCAA Division I college basketball.
Peterson was one of 20 players nationally named to the initial watch list. A child and family studies major in the David B. Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics, she also was one of four Atlantic Coast Conference players to be recognized as candidates for the award, joining Lexie Brown of Duke, Adrienne Motley of Miami, and Lindsay Allen of Notre Dame.
Entering the 2016-17 season, Peterson ranks 16th in program history with 1,207 career points scored. She also has averaged 3.6 assists per game in her collegiate career, which ranks ninth in Syracuse history.
As a junior, Peterson collected Sioux Falls Regional Most Outstanding Player, All-ACC First Team, ACC All-Defensive Team, and All-ACC Tournament accolades. She recorded a postseason to remember for the Orange, averaging 20.7 points per game in the team's nine postseason contests.
Syracuse opens the season on Friday, Nov. 11 against Rhode Island. Tipoff is slated for 3 p.m. in the friendly confines of the Carrier Dome.
