The U.S. will take on Argentina in the quarterfinals on Wednesday
Laura Hurff and the U.S. U-21 squad wrapped up pool play in the Junior World Cup on Sunday, with a 3-2 victory over Korea, earning second in Pool A and advancing to the knockout round.
Hurff has seen significant action in every game of the tournament thus far, helping the team advance out of the pool stages. The squad will next take on Argentina, the top seed out of Pool B, in the quarterfinals.
"We know Argentina and we know we can play them, but we also know that they are a very good team," said USA U21 head coach Janneke Schopman. "If there is one thing that I want, it is that we come out and play and we play our best hockey and see where it gets us. Today's game helped us establish what we need to change. It was tough but I know we can hang in there and hang on. I hope against Argentina we just play to our potential."
Hurff, an NFHCA First Team All-American in 2015 and a First Team All-ACC selection this season, is the latest in a recent string of Orange field hockey players to play at the international level. Currently, Alyssa Manley and Jess Jecko are representing the U.S. on the senior USWNT, and Manley was the only collegiate player to see action for the U.S. in this year's Olympics.
