Orange Finish Among Nation's Best in Final Rankings, Statistics

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse is No. 11 in the final National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) men's poll released this week. The Orange posted a 12-4-4 record in 2016 and earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament where they advanced to the round of 16.

Syracuse ranked fifth in the nation in team goals-against average (0.57) and seventh in shutout percentage (0.55) in the final national statistics released by the NCAA. Sophomore goalkeeper Hendrik Hilpert ranked sixth in the nation in goals-against average (0.57) and was 26th in save percentage (.806). He recorded 11 shutouts in 2016, which tie him for second place on Syracuse's single-season record list. In addition, senior Chris Nanco ranked 13th nationally in game-winning goals with five. He led the Orange in scoring this season with a career-high 15 points (7g, 1a).

Syracuse earned 358 points in the NSCAA final poll, just five points behind Providence, which was ranked No. 10. National champion Stanford earned the top spot in the poll, while runner-up Wake Forest was second. Overall, the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) had five schools ranked in the top 10 and eight in the top 25.
