Ben Boehner was hired as the new assistant women's soccer coach.
Boehner Joins Women's Soccer Staff

SYRACUSE, N.Y.- The Syracuse women's soccer team is excited to announce the hiring of former Florida Gulf Coast University Assistant Coach Ben Boehner.
"I believe that Ben has some unique experiences at great programs that will only enhance what we do here at Syracuse," head coach Phil Wheddon said. "Ben has the passion and desire to succeed, and his energy on and off of the field will help us reach new heights as a program. I am thrilled to have Ben joining our staff".
Prior to arriving at Syracuse, Ben was an assistant for 2 seasons at FGCU that included the team's record-setting 2015 season that took them to the NCAA second round. Ben helped guide FGCU on an 11-game unbeaten streak (10-0-1) as the Eagles finished their season with an overall record of 14-6-2 after advancing to the NCAA Tournament's Second Round for the first time in their history.
During his first season with FGCU, the squad put together a record-breaking season, winning a program-best 17 games, a fifth-consecutive Atlantic Sun Regular Season Championship, a third A-Sun Tournament title and hosted the first NCAA Tournament match in the history of FGCU Athletics which produced a record-shattering attendance of 2,014 fans. During that season, FGCU won a program record 13-consecutive matches, outscoring their opponents 36-6 with seven shutouts, including a 15-2 advantage against A-Sun competition during the regular season.Â
Prior to his time at FGCU, Boehner worked two seasons at the University of Missouri where he served as the team's director of performance analysis in his first season and helped with the transition to the Southeastern Conference, guiding the program to the NCAA Tournament. In his second season, he served as a volunteer assistant coach and was also involved in all aspects of the program.
Before going to Mizzou, Boehner spent two years at Missouri Valley College in Marshall, Mo., where he helped the Vikings regain past successes. During his two seasons, Missouri Valley posted back-to-back winning seasons and an overall record of 18-13-6 in the powerful Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC).
Boehner played collegiate soccer at Columbia College under John Klein from 2001-05. As a four-year starter for the Cougars, Boehner helped push the program to new heights. The team posted a mark of 56-25-2 and an American Midwest Conference record of 23-3-1 during his playing days to establish the Cougars as one of the NAIA's top men's programs. During the summers, Boehner would also train with the Kansas City Brass of the Premier Development League in Kansas City.
A native of Parkville, Mo., Boehner earned a degree in marketing from Columbia College in 2006.
