Oyvind Alseth earns the honor for the second consecutive year.
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Junior Oyvind Alseth and freshman Miles Robinson have been named to the All-ACC Academic Men's Soccer Team, as announced by Commissioner John Swofford on Tuesday, Feb. 9.
Â
Alseth earns the honor for the second consecutive year. The finance major started all 25 matches for the Orange this season and tied for third in scoring with 11 points. He tied his career highs in points, goals (3) and assists (5). Alseth earned a spot on the All-ACC Third Team and was voted to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Team.
Â
Robinson was one of six freshmen named to the All-ACC Academic Team. He started all 25 matches as a member of Syracuse's defense, which posted nine shutouts in 2015. Robinson tied for third on the team in goals with four. He was named to the ACC All-Freshman Team as well as the ACC All-Tournament Team. In addition, Robinson earned a spot on TopDrawerSoccer.com's Freshman Best XI First Team as well as College Soccer News' All-Freshman First Team. In January, Robinson took part in the U.S. U-20 National Team Camp.
Â
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career for undergraduate students. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
Â
Alseth and Robinson helped Syracuse to a historic season in 2015. The Orange won 16 matches, which was just one shy of the single-season school record. Syracuse claimed its first ACC Championship and advanced to the College Cup for the first time in program history.
