CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The Syracuse softball team finished the weekend coming up just short 2-1 against North Carolina off of a bases loaded walk in the bottom of the seventh inning on Sunday.

The Orange (9-11, 1-2 ACC) finish the three-game series against the Tar Heels (12-11, 2-1 ACC) on a 1-2 note, coming up with a big win in the first game 8-2, while falling 3-1 and 2-1 in the next two.

A lead-off home run to left field by senior Corinne Ozanne in the top of the seventh tied it up at one apiece after Carolina got on board in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI single to left center.

With the game knotted up 1-1 in the bottom half of the seventh inning, junior pitcher Sydney O'Hara started things off with a strikeout before walking the next two batters.

With two runners on and one out, senior Jocelyn Cater entered the circle, and a line out in the next at bat to freshman Hannah Dossett at third put two outs on the board.

A walk in the next at bat loaded up the bases for the Tar Heels before another consecutive walk decided the game in North Carolina's favor, 2-1.

Ozanne's home run marks her fourth of the season and 40th of her career, as the Center Valley, Pa. native is just six home runs shy of setting the Syracuse career record for home runs.

Sophomore Maddi Doane added a base hit up the middle in the second at bat of the game, marking her fifth hit of the three-game weekend.

Sophomore AnnaMarie Gatti pitched the first four innings before O'Hara stepped in, allowing one run off of five hits while recording one strikeout.

The Orange return to action on Tuesday, Mar. 15, taking on Savannah State in a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m. in Savannah, Ga.
