#2 Orange Begins ACC Play at #7 Virginia Saturday

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – No. 2/2 Syracuse goes on the road for the first time this season to open ACC play on Saturday, March 5 at No. 7/7 Virginia. Opening draw in Charlottesville, Va. is set for 12 p.m.
Live video will be available on Virginiasports.com. Fans can listen to the live broadcast on Cuse TV on Cuse.com. Subscriptions to Cuse TV are available at daily, monthly and yearly rates. WJPZ 89.1FM in Syracuse will also broadcast the game.
FIRST ROAD TRIP
Syracuse (5-1) goes on the road for the first time on Saturday to take on the Cavaliers (4-1). The Orange opened the season with six straight home games. Syracuse will play four of its next five games away from the Carrier Dome.
SYRACUSE IN ACC OPENERS
Saturday's game is the ACC opener for both Syracuse and Virginia. The Orange are 2-0 in their league opener since joining the ACC in 2013-14. Both wins have come against the Cavaliers. Syracuse was picked as the preseason favorite to win the ACC regular-season title in a vote by the league's head coaches.
TOUGH SCHEDULE
Saturday's game is Syracuse's third straight against a team ranked in the top 10. The Orange are in a stretch where they will play eight of its next nine games against top 20 opponents.
SCOUTING THE CAVALIERS
Virginia defeated William & Mary, 16-8, on Wednesday to improve its record to 4-1. Junior Posey Vails scored four goals to lead the Cavaliers to victory. She is tied with Besser Dyson for the team lead in points as both have registered 16 this season. Rachel Vander Kolk has started all five games in goal for Virginia. She has a 10.61 goals-against average and a .447 save percentage.
THE SERIES
Saturday's match-up will be the 19th meeting between the Orange and Cavaliers. Virginia leads the all-time series, 11-7, however, the Orange have won the last four meetings, including last year's game in the Carrier Dome, 14-13.
